Don’t get tricked! Make Halloween a treat with these New York safety tips.
Can you believe Halloween is just around the corner? It seems like we just got the kids back in school, and they’re already worrying about what they’ll dress up as for the coming holiday!
We want the last day of October to be a treat for your family and to help you avoid getting tricked, so here’s a quick guide to the best New York safety tips for Halloween.
- Team Up: Kids should never be left to wander the dark streets on their own. Coordinate with your kids’ friends’ parents to set up a safe route that everyone can navigate as a group, and make sure adults stay with any trick or treaters who are under the age of 12.
- Choose Wisely: Teach your kids that the best treats are those that are individually packaged and come to them without being opened. Encourage them not to eat any candy that didn’t come in its original packaging until they get home, and then go through their spoils together so you can toss out any questionable looking items (make sure you have replacements ready to avoid upset kids!).
- Costume Care: Instead of masks, use kid-friendly face paint to make sure your kids have full visibility and are comfortable while celebrating the holiday. Choose costumes that are fire-retardant, and try to stay away from shoes that are too big and bottoms that are too large to help your kids avoid tripping.
