Did you know these bizarre traffic laws existed?
There are probably some traffic laws of which you are not a particular fan. That 25 mph speed limit on a back road with very little traffic might have you pulling out your hair, but rest assured it’s not the craziest traffic law out there. Here are a handful of laws that might just surprise you!
- Highways & Golf Carts (Rockville, Maryland): You’re pretty smart, so you wouldn’t even think of taking a golf cart out on a highway. Unfortunately, it seems some people in Rockville, Maryland are not so safety-conscious, since the city had to specifically outlaw taking golf carts on highways.
- Street Ball (Nacogdoches, Texas): Similarly, when looking for your venue for your next pickup game of soccer, baseball, or basketball, you probably don’t look at the street and think, “Perfect!” It seems, though, that some people in Nacogdoches, Texas thought differently; the city had to make a law specifically prohibiting “playing ball” in the street.
- Bad Bumper Sticker (Georgia): Many a person has seen their bumper as a platform for free speech, but in Georgia you had best keep your opinions to yourself unless you can keep them safe for the whole family. Crude bumper stickers will land you with a $100 ticket as is explained in a code that specifically lists out which words are prohibited. (You can probably guess a few of the words that made the list.)
